Current status of project:
This week, we planned out the software development process. We’ve divided the software into three main parts: data input, algorithm, and GUI. Jeff is working on data input. We contacted Nick Bloom and other collaborators to find out more about getting eye tracker data in real time, and were given a few suggestions, which we are looking into. We also have access to the code for Jon Koller’s head movement software, which includes a file searching loop which we may use. Amy is working on the algorithm itself. Caroline is working on the GUI, and spent some time this week working with GUIDE and Jon Koller’s code to explore GUI options.
Work planned for next week:
In order to write the algorithm, we need to analyze the data more comprehensively to determine the cutoffs for pupil size and duration of eye closure that will indicate sleep. We also have been provided with guidance on a few different methods for data retrieval, and we need to decide which method will work best for our program
